ESC4Alabama is an NSF-funded partnership operating to provide high school students across Alabama with the experiences in authentic Computer Science through the establishment of the stand-alone course "Exploring Computer Science (ECS)". The ECS course is being introduced state-wide, in 60 predominantly African-American high schools from mainly rural economically distressed communities.  

With attention to culturally relevant Computer Science experiences. ECS is broadening the participating in computing in Alabama. 

Students are Learning the following exciting topics in the ECS course:

  • Human Computer Interaction 

  • Problem solving 

  • Web design 

  • Introduction to programming 

  • Computing and data analysis

  • Robotics
